Regine Andris (L), a retired shop-owner wearing a National Front political party scarf, distributes political leaflets as she campaigns for upcoming regional elections at the outdoor market in Denain, northern France October 8, 2015. Small northern France town Denain has been a left-wing bastion for generations. Not anymore. With a poverty rate three times the national average, the feeling that mainstream politicians have failed runs high amid the 20,000 inhabitants of a town where activity is so subdued that streets are eerily quiet. And the temptation to vote for the anti-Europe, anti-immigration National Front (FN) in December regional elections goes well beyond hard-core party activists. Picture taken October 8, 2015. Pilgrims pray in front of a large screen in Saint Peter's Square, as they watch a mass lead by newly elected Pope Francis in the Sistine Chapel, at the Vatican March 14, 2013. In his first public Mass, Pope Francis urged the Catholic Church on Thursday to stick to its roots and shun modern temptations, warning that it would become just "a compassionate NGO" if it forgot its true mission. The empty chapel of the closed down Saint Joseph College seminary is seen in San Jose city on Mindoro island February 23, 2013. Some 21 seminarians had been preparing for priesthood at the seminary before it closed down in late 2011, a priest residing there said. He and a bishop are the only ones who live at the site now. There is a continuing decline of priesthood in the Philippines, among the reasons for which are church scandals and the abuses of some priests worldwide, according to a video by a seminarian who was leaving the Saint Augustine Minor Seminary after six years. Seminarians are now afraid of not being able to remain faithful, chaste and celibate and live up to the standards of priesthood. Yet, they believe that scandals are contradictory to what it means to become a priest and that those with a genuine vocation to serve God will be able to overcome all temptation.
