Swans swim over a lake, with the air temperature at about minus 35 degrees Celsius (minus 31 degrees Fahrenheit) as steam ascends above the water during sunset near the village of Urozhainy, Sovetsky district of Altai region, January 26, 2015. About 600 swans annually migrate to the lake, which is heated by warm springs, where they spend their winter being fed by yagers, which help them to survive the severe cold. A man bathes in a natural hot water spring which is full of minerals November 26, 2014. Tourists are drawn to the hot springs which locals claim have healing properties. Residents of Siwa have been hurt by declining tourism in Egypt, which received 9.5 million tourists last year, down from over 14.7 million tourists in 2010, before the uprising that ousted autocrat Hosni Mubarak. Nationwide, the situation is gradually improving and the government says tourism could recover to pre-crisis levels next year if regional turmoil spares Egypt. But Siwa, located just 50 km (30 miles) from war-torn Libya, still sees only a fraction of the tourists that once visited the desert oasis, the head of Siwa's tourism authority says. The inaugural flight into suborbital space should happen later this year and the first astronauts, who have made reservations and paid $250,000 for the flight, should follow a month later. People enjoy themselves at the Beitou Open-Air Public Hot Springs in Taipei December 13, 2013. Aside from great food, shopping and nightlife, Taiwan offers a hot spring culture that is one of the best developed in Asia, with escapes for every price range and timeframe. The island, at the confluence of two major tectonic zones, is a geological marvel where frequent earthquakes rearrange the stunning mountain scenery and unearth new hot spring sources with every rumble.
