A sign marks the start of the ice road between Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories November 11. Both towns are centers of operations for oil and gas exploration in Canada's Arctic. Along Inuvik's icy Navy Road, fleets of idle trucks and clusters of unused oil field equipment are the tangible evidence of an economy in limbo, waiting for one of the world's biggest unbuilt energy projects - the C$16.2 billion ($15.3 billion) Mackenzie natural gas pipeline - to get underway. After decades of setbacks, work on the pipeline has not started, and it's not entirely clear it ever will. Picture taken November 11, 2009. A BANGKOK TUKTUK IS DECORATED WITH ANTI-IMF SLOGANS IN BANGKOK.
A Bangkok three-wheeled Tuk-Tuk is decorated with slogans promoting the Thai Motherland political Party December 19, 2000 which is against such outside entities as the International Monetary Fund and the World Trade Organisation. In the lead up to Thailand's general election on January 6, 2001, some Thai political parties are exploiting national sentiment to rally support for their belief that foreign takeovers of Thai assets are not in the nation's best interest. The banner claims that free trade is only to serve the demand of foreigners.
