MEXICAN ARCHITECTS RECEIVE PRIZE IN PORTUGAL.
Mexican architects Enrique Norten (R) and Bernardo Gomez-Pimienta (L) smile as they recieve the first Mies van der Rohe prize for Latin American architecture from Barcelona's Deputy Mayor Xavier Casas October 16. The award, consisting of $60,000 and a sculpture by Xavier Corbero, was granted for their project of a multi-purpose building for Televisa in Mexico city. The awards ceremony was one of the activities scheduled in the picturesque city of Oporto to coincide with the VIII Ibero-American summit, where heads of state and government from Latin America, Spain and Portugal will hold their annual meeting October 17-18.
