After months of health problems, it was announced on September 7, 2000 that country singer LeAnn Rimes has the Epstein-Barr virus. Rimes, shown at the World Music Awards in Monte Carlo on May 6, 1998, canceled her 30-date summer tour in June due to a strained vocal chord and has been suffering from severe fatique, a symptom of the virus. The 18-year-old singer said she is planning to treat her illness with plenty of bed rest.
