Bruce Williamson, head of Duke Energy's bidding team to take majority control of Chile's largest power generator Endesa, arrives at a crucial press conference in Santiago April 20. Duke Energy is in a dogfight with Spain's Endesa to gain control of Chile's Endesa - the two Endesas are not related-in what amounts to the largest ever corporate taekover in Chilean history. Duke's $3 billion bid is for 60 percent of Chile's Endesa, the Madrid company has offered $2.155 billion for 34.7 percent of the generator. Spain's Endesa, via its Chilean holding Enersis, already owns more than 25 percent of Chile's Endesa.
