A family from the Embera tribe ride in a canoe with their produce to be sold on a market on the Tupiza river in Darien February 17, 2010. Drug-running Colombian rebels are using the dense, lawless jungle joining North and South America to smuggle cocaine past sea patrols, creating a new troublespot in the continent's drug war. Squeezed in the Caribbean and the Pacific by Panamanian and U.S. patrols that regularly seize loads of the drug, traffickers now zigzag through Panama's Darien province, which joins the isthmus nation with Colombia, Panama's government says. The zigzag on the right is the signature of a supermassive black hole in the center of galaxy M84, discovered by the Hubble Space Telescope's Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) and released by NASA May 12. The image at left was taken with the Hubble's Wide Field Planetary and Camera 2 and shows the core of the galaxy where the suspected black hole dwells. The image was one of four released by NASA that shows the results of the new Hubble instruments installed in telescope's the most recent upgrade in February.
