Mental health workers find it especially difficult coping with pandemic
Amina Woods, program director for a foster care agency and a psychotherapist for a private practice, works at her home in New York City, U.S., March 3, 2021. "I think we have to normalize the conversation around mental health care. I think that's first and foremost. And I think the conversation, I think is getting better. It's getting a lot better. I think with this Covid pandemic, a secondary pandemic, if you will, will be a mental health pandemic for everyone", Woods said during an interview with Reuters. Picture taken March 3, 2021. Amina Woods, program director for a foster care agency and a psychotherapist for a private practice, poses for a portrait in New York City, U.S., March 3, 2021. "I think it goes overlooked the impact that Covid has taken on caregivers, whether it's doctors, nurses, therapists. I remember over the summer... the ads aren't as frequent anymore. There was a lot of appreciation for the health care workers and the work that they do. But I don't think that there's been enough concern about how the work that they've been doing has been impacting their physical health, their mental health", Woods said during an interview with Reuters. "While we're also caring for those who are impacted, we are a part of that population who's impacted by Covid. And I think it's important for us to know that the caregivers need some support. We need some caring for as well." Picture taken March 3, 2021. REUTERS/Zakiyyah Woods
