Riding India's Railways - 25 Feb 2013
Photographer Navesh Chitrakar spent three months travelling on India's railways, documenting the world's fourth largest rail system, ahead of the indian railway budget on February 26. Almost all rail operations in India are handled by state-owned organisation, Indian Railways, which operates 9,000 passenger trains and transports up to 20 million passengers every day. Indian Railways Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal will unveil the budget amid speculation that the government could raise fares for the second time in two months to help mend the network’s finances.
