BISHOP JORGE MEJIA SPEAKS DUEING NEWS CONFERENCE AT THE VATICAN ON NEW RULES FOR CONCLAVES
Argentinian Bishop George Mejia (R) gestures while Vatican spokesman Joaquino Navarro Valls listens during a news conference at the Vatican February 23, on Pope John Paul's new issue of updated codes for electing Popes. The new rules introduce modern comforts for cardinals, and reaffirm measures against electronic dubbing and cellular phones to safeguard the conclave secrecy. They also reaffirm that cardinals 80 and older cannot enter a conclave to elect a Pope, and kept the upper limit of cardinal-electors to 120.
