UEFA SECRETARY GENERAL GERHARD AIGNER SPEAKS THE EURIPEAN PARLIAMENT
UEFA Secretary General Gerhard Aigner (R) speaks March 20 at a European Parliament public hearing on "The Bosman case - the aftermath". Aigner said the Bosman judgment did not provide for a fair transitional period, it disregards sporting traditions, destroys national structures of sport and endangers the future of national football associations and national teams, but Aigner was countered by European competition commissioner Karel Van Miert who angrily rejected the accusations by UEFA, saying it was unfair, unjust and incorrect. At left is Association of Professional Football Players Chairman Gordon Taylor.
