Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shakes hands with Ferdinand Piech (L), chairman of Volkswagen AG, as the visiting German executive visits the prime minister's offices April 17. Volkswagen AG will hold a 35 percent stake in a new joint venture magnesium plant to be inaugurated this evening in Sdom, on the banks of the Dead Sea called Dead Sea Magnesium.The project is worth some $800 million and when the plant reaches full production in 1998, output will reach 27,000 tonnes. A third of the output is earmarked for Volkswagen for use in auto parts.
