WOMEN VOTERS QUEUE AT BANGLADESH BY-ELECTION IN MANIKGANJ
Women wait in a queue for their turn to vote in parliamentary by-elections in the district of Manikganj, north of Dhaka June 30. The by-election, to fill a parliamentary seat which fell vacant following the death of a legislator, is a stronghold of main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), but ruling Awami League is putting up a strong fight to win the seat. BNP chief and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia has warned that she would launch a fierce anti-government movement if BNP candidate Abdul Wahab Khan lost the vote.
