Karel Gacoms, head of the socialist ABVV/FGTB trade union seen before talks with Ministry of Employment representatives in Brussels, June 30. The French carmaker confirmed late June 28 plans to close down the factory employing 3,100 workers by the end of the year. Unions are willing to negotiate a redundancy scheme, but they believe such a scheme must also include employment and the creation of more new jobs than the 400 envisaged in the company's plan.
