Spectators look towards the ancient Roman forum, with the Colosseum in the background, bathed in light by a new permanent illumination system turned on for the first time on the night of June 21. The gala ceremony of song and dance was hosted by French actress Catherine Deneueve and Italian Vittorio Gassman.
