Theresa Solomons (L), mayor of Cape Town, and William D. Banton, mayor of Cape Town's suburb, prepare to phone through the success of their bidding after Cape Town was chosen as one of the five final candidates to host the 2004 Summer Games. The other final candidate cities chosen by the selection committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Lausanne, March 7, are Athens, Buenos Aires, Stockholm and Rome. The venue for the Games will be decided on September 5.
