Armed Guatemalan Military Police look on to their compound February 1, after a breakdown of negotiations over the future of their army unit in peactime Guatemala. At one point, about 400 of the armed police blocked the door of their headquarters to prevent two generals from leaving after the breakdown. The Military Police are demanding the government pay them severance when they lose their jobs this year under the terms of the peace accord.
