INDIANS STAND NEXT TO A PROTEST POSTER IN QUITO
A couple stands next to a poster reading "Let's save the country" outside a church in downtown Quito January 30. Approximately 100 indians occupied the church on January 28 to protest against Ecuadoran President Abdala Bucaram and his government's new economic policies. For more than two weeks the Ecuadoran population has been protesting against Bucaram and his government resulting in the arrest of 600 people and with the police investing more than USD 500,000 in security measures.
