INDONESIAN FINANCE MINISTER MUHAMMAD ANNOUNCES IMF PACKAGE IN JAKARTA
Indonesian Finance Minister Mar'ie Muhammad (2R) speaks to reporters while announcing Indonesia's agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on a comprehensive programme to restore confidence in the economy October 31. Indonesia announced on October 8 it was approaching the IMF, World Bank and the Asian Development Bank for assistance in stabilising the tumbling rupiah and restoring confidence in the financial market. Minister Mar'ie is accompanied by (L to R) Trade and Industry Minister Tungky Ariwibowo, State Secretary Murdiono and Bank of Indonesia governor Sudradjad Djiwandono.
