America Online and WorldCom Inc said September 8 they will split the consumer and commercial businesses of Compuserve Inc. in a $1.2 billion deal that reshapes the online services. Under the deal WorldCom agreed to buy CompuServe for $1.2 billion and swap Compuserve's 2.6 million consumer customers to AOL, and in exchange get AOL's network subsidiary, ANS Communications.
