A SALVADOREAN PEASANT SHOWS DAMAGE TO CORN CROPS BY EL NINO
A 68- year-old Salvadorean peasant Sebastian Lopez works his plot next to his maize crop damaged by the El Nino climatological phenomenon in the La Paz region 60km south of the capital. The unusually strong rains have caused damage to basic grain crops estimated at US $31.3 milllion. Agricultural experts expect the phenomenom to cause even more damage in 1998. Photo take August 19.
