BRUTALITY PROTESTERS GATHER NEAR NEW YORK CITY HALL
A crowd of demonstrators estimated to number 5,000 gather near City Hall, the low building seen above the trees, in New York on August 29 to protest the alleged beating and sexual torture of a Haitian immigrant by white police officers. The demonstration was held to support security guard Abner Louima who suffered severe internal injuries when police allegedly forced a wooden stick in his rectum.
