Palestinian President Yasser Arafat waves to the crowd that turned out to greet him January 19 as he enters Hebron standing up in his limousine (unseen) while going from the helicopter landing pad to the military headquarters building where he delivered a speech. Some 25,000 supporters turned out to cheer his arrival, totally surrounding his car while waving flags. Security was extremely tight with many Palestinian security agents riding horses.
