PRO CHOICE MARCHERS PROTEST OUTSIDE THE MAYFLOWER IN WASHINGTON
Police stop pro-choice demonstrators from marching past the Mayflower Hotel January 22, where Vice President Al Gore was scheduled to speak at a luncheon for the National Abortion Rights League. Earlier in the day, a suspicious device was reported to have been discovered behind the hotel, and a small explosion went off near a Planned Parenthood clinic nearby, causing security jitters on a day the capital was crowded with demonstrators on both sides of the abortion issue for the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's Roe vs. Wade decision, legalizing abortion.
