Turkey's leading human rights campaigner Akin Birdal is carried on a stretcher by medics after he was gunned down by two unidentified attackers in his office in Ankara May 12. Birdal, head of the Turkish Human Rights Association (IHD), is in a critical condition at a local hospital, according to the chief doctor.
