DELAWARE'S TALL SHIP THE KALMAR NYCKEL IS COMMISIONED.
The Kalmar Nyckel, Delaware's tall ship, stands dockside after it was commisioned, May 9. The Kalmar Nyckel is the full-size recreation of the ornate, three-masted Dutch-built Swedish warship that brought the first permanent European settlers to the Delaware Valley in 1638 and made her official landing at "The Rocks," site of Fort Christina Park. Thereafter, she made three more documented roundtrip Atlantic crossings. blj/Phot by Barbara L.
