SACRED OXEN EAT OFFERINGS AT THE ROYAL PALACE IN BANGKOK.
Sacred oxen Rung and Roj sample offerings which, according to tradition, will determine the fate of the country's rice crops, during an annual royal ploughing ceremony presided by King Bhumibol Adulyadej in Bangkok May 8. Thailand will have a bumper crop harvest this year and its farm exports will flourish, according to the ritualistic predictions made by the two sacred oxen, whose names combined mean prosperity, in the colourful and ancient ceremony.
