CITIZENS RENACT SCENES FROM THE LIBERATION OF BRIELLE
Citizens from the village of Brielle play a beheading scene, of a rebel named Coppelstock, at the annual April first celebration April 1. The story of how the rebels, The Geuzen, defeated the Spanish occupiers on April 1 1572 and freed Brielle which became the first city in the hands of Prince Willem van Orange is re-enacted annually.
