A FILIPINO SURVIVOR IS CARRIED AFTER AN INTER ISLAND FERRY SANK.
An unidentified Filipino survivor rescued by a fishing boat is carried by Red Cross volunteers in Manila September 19. A Philippine inter-island ferry sank in stormy seas near Manila and nearly 400 people were missing, the Navy said on Saturday. The 13,935-ton MV Princess of the Orient radioed that its crew and passengers were abandoning the vessel a few hours after it steamed out of Manila on Friday night while fringe winds of storm Vicki were battering a wide area of Luzon island, including Manila. At least 60 people have been rescued, a navy spokesman said. Shipowners said the ship was carrying 351 passengers and 102 crew.
