SECOND DAY OF HEAVY RIOTING IN TIZI OUZOU OVER THE MURDER OF POPULAR SINGER LOUNES MATOUB.
A protester is arrested by Algerian riot police June 27, during riots where public buildings, shops and fuel stations were set ablaze, on the second day of clashes over the murder of popular singer Lounes Matoub, in the Berber mountain town of Tizi Ouzou. Matoub aged 42, a staunch democrat, anti-Islamist and supporter of the Berber cause, was killed by a "terrorist group" at a fake roadblock on June 25th.
