Pope John Paul II blesses Alexander J. Brunett, Archishop of Seattle, after giving him the pallium, a vestment symbolising unity with Rome. The Pope is to give 17 pallium to 17 bishops from around the world during a solemn ceremony in St. Peter's Basilica June 29.
