Ron Taylor judges a venison and kangaroo pie during the "Great Aussie Gourmet Pie" competition at the International Catering Trade Fair in Sydney July 6. Competitors from around Australia entered more than 900 pies for judging with some unusual entries made from crocodile tail, yabbie, rabbit, emu and camel with judges looking for pastry quality, filling quality, eveness of baking, overall presentation and appearance.
