CYCLISTS PASS TIANANMEN GATE IN BEIJING.
Chinese cyclists zip past Beijing's central Tiananmen Gate on their way to work June 23. Tiananmen Gate overlooks Tiananmen Square, which is scheduled to be the venue for a welcoming ceremony for American President Bill Clinton when he arrives in China's capital on Saturday. Clinton's trip has generated more ill will than any foreign visit in recent memory. Members of congress have flayed him for agreeing to attend a welcome ceremony at Tiananmen Square, scene of the 1989 pro-democracy crackdown.
