NURSERY MANAGER SELLS KUMQUAT FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR IN KUALA LUMPUR
Entreprenuer Lim Ong carries one of his kumquat trees which he sells for RM25 ($5.5) each at a nursery in Kuala Lumpur January 11. The Chinese equate these trees with prosperity and good luck and usually display them in their homes during Chinese New Year. However, the current economic slowdown has dampened business for Lim which has seen a 30 percent reduction in demands. Chinese Lunar New Year falls on January 28.
