RIGHTWING PROTEST IN TEL AVIV
Jewish settlers and other Israeli right-wingers protest against any further handover of West Bank land to the Palestinians January 14. Police estimated the crowd at thirty thousand, making the gathering the biggest right-wing demonstration against the government since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took office 19 months ago. Netanyahu is due to hold talks with U.S. President Clinton on January 20 on an Israeli troop withdrawal which Washington says must be "significant and credible".
