GATE OF GUANTANAMO BASE TO GO WITH STORY
FOR RELEASE WITH STORY BC-CUBA-USA-COMMUTE - Marines from Windward Rifle Company round a curve on patrol January 15 as they pass the northeastern gate dividing Guantanamo Naval Base from the rest of Cuba. The gate is used for monthly meetings between the U.S. and Cuban military commanders, and daily entry of around twenty civilian workers, who have held jobs at the base since before Cuba's revolution and make one of the world's most unusual commutes.The base is the only American installation in the world operating in a communist country.
