Thai police inspect 83 kg of heroin in a police station in Baan Na Drim in the Surat Thani province in southern Thailand, 700 km south of Bangkok October 19. The police had a lucky break when they discovered the drug hidden in a secret compartment in one of two trucks involved in a head-on collision. Thailand is a transit point for heroin originating in the Golden Triangle opium growing region, which straddles the borders of Myanmar, Thailand and Laos.
