1998 Nobel Peace Prize winner and Irish member of the European Parliament John Hume (C) is congratulated by British President of the Socialist group of the European Parliament Pauline Green (L), Spanish socialist M.P. Manuel Medina Ortega (R) and other members of his group, October 20 in Strasbourg, for his first participation to the European assembly since being awarded, along with Northern Ireland's First Minster David Trimble, the Nobel Peace Prize. The prize was awarded for their efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in Northern Ireland.
