QUEBEC INDEPENDENT TRUCKS BLOCK BRIDGES TO ONTARIO TO PROTEST REGULATION OF INDUSTRY.
A Quebec Police officer walks along the traffic jam caused by hundreds of Quebec independent truckers as they block the highway to the MacDonald-Cartier bridge to Ontario in Hull, Quebec, October 26. The truckers were demanding a law that would spell out work conditions for independent truckers and guarantee the same wage scale that union truckers receive. The truckers have reached a tentative deal but continued to back up traffic for several kilometres until it was ratified. The signs is translated as " No to deregulation, ready to negotiate".
