Top Taiwan envoy Koo Chen-fu, chairman of Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation (R), is greeted by traders during his visit to the Shanghai Stock Exchange October 15. Koo was the founder and chairman of the Taipei Stock Exchange from 1962 to 1964 and is scheduled to meet China's Communist Party chief Jiang Zemin in Beijing on October 18. The meeting will be the highest level of contact since the Nationalists lost the Chinese civil war to the Communists and fled into exile in 1949.
