PAL CHAIRMAN LUCIO TAN ARRIVES AT HIS OFFICE IN MANILA.
Philippine Airlines Inc (PAL) chairman Lucio Tan arrives at his office in Manila's financial district of Makati September 23. PAL is set to shut by midnight on Wednesday after more than half a century in business, although Philippine President Joseph Estrada hopes to keep its planes by flying on domestic routes. The fate of the 57-year old carrier, Asia's oldest national airline, was sealed after employees on Tuesday rejected PAL's proposal that they agree to suspend labour bargaining for a decade in exchange for 20 percent equity.
