CONTAMINATED FIRE ENGINE STANDS ON THE M6 MOTORWAY.
A fire engine contaminated by spilled cow's blood stands on the hard shoulder of the M6 Motorway in Wolverhampton, September 23. Twenty two tonnes of cows blood was spilled onto the motorway after a seal broke on a tanker carrying the blood being destroyed under government precautions to stamp out the mad cow disease BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy). It is not yet known if the blood was infected with BSE however eight people were taken to hospital as a precaution.
