German boat illbruck Challenge sails into the harbour as overall winner
of the Volvo Ocean Race 2001-2002 in the northern German city of Kiel
at the Baltic on June 9, 2002. The 250 nautical-mile voyage of eight
teams from Gothenburg to Kiel decided the overall winner of the
round-the-world race after 32,700 nautical-miles (60560.4 kilometres)
including 10 stops which began in September 2001 in Southampton,
England. At 1617GMT, John Kostecki's illbruck Challenge crossed the
