BUDDHIST MONKS CARRY GOLDEN PACHINKO MACHINE AT TOKYO TEMPLE.
Buddhist monks carry a glass-encased golden "pachinko" machine in Tokyo
August 8, 2003. A memorial service was held to express gratitude to
Japan's popular pachinko game, similar to pinball, one of a handful of
leisure industries fortunate enough to defy the nation's poor economy
and turn a profit even in these tough times. At the ceremony industry
executives prayed to honour machines that have come to the end of their
working lives. REUTERS/Eriko Sugita
