ASSAM.
Indian flood victims are carried to safety in a rescue boat in the
district of Demaji, 550 kms (342 miles) east of Guwahat in the state of
Assam July 10, 2003. Surging river waters and landslides have killed at
least 48 people in eastern India in the flood prone areas.
