AFGHAN WOMEN STAND OUTSIDE THE WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME IN KABUL.
Several dozen women, covered in the mandatory burqa, stand outside the office of the World Food Programme (WFP) in the Afghan capital Kabul April 26, 2001. WFP wants the ruling Taliban movement to allow local women to carry out a house to house survey for its subsidized bakery project feeding over 300,000 widows. It has warned that it would halt its project if the Islamic fundementalist Taliban rule out the involvement of female to do the survey.
