U.S. AND GERMAN SOLDIERS AT KABUL'S AIRPORT.
A U.S. soldier (L) studies the rifle of his German colleague at the
International airport near Bagram, some 55 km north of Kabul on January
11, 2002. A group of some 70 German soldiers arrived in Afghanistan as
a part of the International peace keeping forces. The United States
flew the first al Qaeda and Taliban prisoners out of Afghanistan as its
forces combed eastern mountains for diehard guerrilla fighters.
