Afghan horsemen try to get hold of a beheaded calf from the ground during a Buzkashi game in Kabul April 5, 2008. The Afghan national sport of buzkashi is played between two teams of horsemen competing to throw a beheaded 30-kg (66 lb) calf, goat, or sheep into a scoring circle. Only the best players, the chapandaz, get close to the carcass in the competition, and the winner receives prizes either in cash or kind that have been donated by a sponsor.
