Afghans celebrate tomorrow the Nowruz or new years festival, for the first time in six years as the festival was banned during the Taliban rule. Traditionally, Afghans buy food stuffs such as sweets, fish and nuts. The festival is also a favoured time for marriage engagements as it marks the start of Spring and symbollically heralds the beginning of new life.
