Afghan leprosy patients sit in the sun at the Zuflucht Home for the Homeless in Bamiyan.
Afghan leprosy patients sit in the sun at the Zuflucht Home for the Homeless in the Yakawlang district of Bamiyan province, about 330 kms northwest of Kabul March 30, 2005. The shelter, in a remote area in Afghanistan, is the only home to handicapped Afghans and leprosy patients who have been rejected by their families and communities. German nurse Edda Dohm, who has been running the centre since 1990, warns that the centre may shut down if private funding ceases. Picture taken on March 30, 2005. REUTERS/Ahmad Masood AM
